Peterhouse Rowing at the RSA National Champs 2022

Over the fixture free weekend, Reagan Evans (PHB), Emmanuel Nyamupingidza (PHB), Daniella Phiri (PHG) and Lara Weller (PHG) travelled to Roodeplaat Dam in South Africa to compete in the SA National Champs for rowing. This was a tough regatta where the rowers competed against many university rowers and SA national crews.

On the Saturday, both Emmanuel and Reagan won their Junior men’s under 18 single scull heats to move on to the final where they came 4th and 6th respectively in a tough race. On the same day the rowers came 6th in the Men’s A double final which is an amazing result as the winners were men from the SA National crew.

Daniella and Lara rowed in the women’s B single scull race. Lara made the final where she came 5th which was an amazing achievement as most of the competition in this race was made up of university women. In the junior women under 18 doubles final, the pair placed 4th.

On Sunday morning, Lara and Daniella rowed well in their junior women under 18 single sculls and both made the final. They rowed their hearts out and Lara managed to grab the silver medal and Daniella came in 5th.

Reagan and Emmanuel rowed in the Junior men’s under 18 double. Having overcome boat challenges and foreign conditions, they made the final and took gold. These boys are currently training for the world champs in July and we wish them the best of luck as they continue to train towards their goal.

A huge well done to our girls and boys on their fine achievements.
